Roberto Pollo is a musician, producer and composer.
Was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1979.
Over the years has toured Brazil, Europe and U.S. performing with prestigious Brazilian artists such as Adriana Calcanhotto (Cantada/2002-2003), Dado Villa-Lobos (Jardim de Cactus/2005), Gabriel o Pensador (Cavaleiro Andante/2006), Lobão (MTV unplugged/2007), Fernanda Abreu (MTV ao Vivo/2008), among others.
Currently plays in the band for OVO show from Cirque du Soleil, on tour in the U.S.
Recorded several albums which summed sold more than one million worldwide. Thats includes Latin Grammy awarded albums such as Vanessa da Mata’s Sim (Sony BMG/2007) and Lobão’s MTV Unplugged(Sony BMG/2006). Also played in 2 number one (top chart) singles in Brazil, Ben Harper/Vanessa da Mata’s Good Luck (2008) and Marjorie Estiano’s Você Sempre Será (2005).
Besides this recorded with artists such as Jack Johnson (Hope/Mario C. remix), Amadou and Mariam (Dimanche a Bamako/2005 France, produced by Manu Chao), Joseph Danvers (2008 France, produced by Mario Caldato), Carlos Nunes (Alborada do Brasil/2009), Saigenji (Acalanto/2004 Japan, produced by Kassin), the album for Cirque du Soleil show Ovo (2009 Canada) and also in Brazil for Adriana Calcanhotto (Adriana Partimpim/2004, Partimpim 2 /2009), Dado Villa-Lobos (Jardim de Cactus/2003) and Mariana Aydar (Peixes, Pássaros, Pessoas/2008).
In 2007 scored the soundtrack for the episode “Brazil in Black and White” for "Wide Angle" TV show. (PBS/USA).
Composed and produced with Dado Villa-Lobos and Carlos Laufer soundtrack for the Emmy nominated HBO series Mandrake (2005). Also with Dado, scored the feature films "Podecrer" (Conspiracão Filmes 2007), "Os Porralokinhas" (Universal/Globo Filmes 2007), and the documentary "Pro Dia Nascer Feliz”, winner of Brazilian most prestigious film festival, Gramado in 2006, getting the prizes for best film, best soundtrack and special jury prize.
Composed and produced with Dé Palmeira for Globo TV (3rd largest commercial TV in the world), the music for the soap opera “Da Cor do Pecado” in 2004, most sucessful soap opera of the decade in it’s category, sold to more than 100 countries.
Produced music for several advertising films in partnership with Studio Hitz (Nani Dias) for many clients.(TIM Telecom, Fanta, Michelin tires, Brasil Telecom, Kuat, Sonridor, Central Bank of Brazil, etc.) and for the feature film "Samba!" directed by Adam Stepan (New York,USA), this film included in the official selection of festivals in Europe and America. Also composed togheter the soundtrack for Travel Channel’s “Best of Rio” episode (USA/2004).
Played as session musician in many independent albums and sound tracks for feature films (Dois filhos de Francisco, Era uma vez, Meu tio matou um cara...) and TV series (Michiko e Hatchin / Fuji TV/Japan, lots of TV Globo soap operas...)
